About Liz

Liz Codd

Liz is a violinist and violin teacher in Worcester, MA. She earned her Master of Music in Violin Performance studying with Ben Sayevich at Park University’s International Center of Music in Parkville, MO. She also earned her Graduate Performance Diploma at the same institution. She will begin teaching this fall at the Indian Hill Music School in Littleton, MA. She also teaches private violin lessons out of her home studio in Worcester for students of all ages and levels.

Before relocating to Worcester in August of 2018, Liz lived in Kansas City where she maintained an active performing career and collaborated with a variety of local musicians. She was a member of the St. Joseph Symphony first violin section, and a substitute violinist in the Kansas City Symphony. She can be heard on world-renowned rapper Tech N9ne’s latest albums “Something Else” and “Special Effects” as well as on Boogaloo Seven's first record "The Basement Beat". Laura Vernaci of KC Metropolis, Kansas City’s Online Journal of the Arts, wrote that Codd plays with “divine fluidity.” Liz was a faculty member at the Kansas City Suzuki Academy where she taught private and group Suzuki lessons.

Way back in May of 2009, Liz graduated summa cum laude from Rhode Island College with a degree in mathematics. She is a National Merit Scholar as well as a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Pi Mu Epsilon (U.S. honorary national mathematics society). While attending Rhode Island College Liz studied violin with John Sumerlin. She received the Christopher Mitchell Award in Mathematics, the CRC Freshman Chemistry Award, and the Helen Forman Special Talent Award in Music and performed as a soloist and concertmaster with the Rhode Island College Chamber Orchestra.

In 2009 and 2010 Liz studied with Eric Rosenblith at the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA. Liz has attended the Aspen Music Festival in Aspen CO, the International Musical Arts Institute in Fryeburg ME, and the Killington Music Festival in Killington, VT. She has performed in masterclasses for great artists and pedagogues such as Shmuel Ashkenasi and the Borromeo String Quartet.

Violin Lessons

All Ages and Levels - Children and Adults!

Liz Codd

Liz is an experienced and encouraging violin teacher in Worcester, MA. She offers weekly private lessons combined with a monthly group class and works individually with students (ages 4 and up) to achieve their musical goals while providing a solid basis in classical violin technique.

Liz began violin at the age of 5 using the Suzuki method, and is now a Suzuki teacher registered with the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Once students are well-equipped with a good fundamental technique Liz is very open to incorporating different pieces from all genres (pop, jazz, movie scores, fiddle tunes, etc) into the lessons.

In addition to solo performing, Liz often performs as part of a violin and piano duet with pianist Sean Martinez, as well as string trios and quartets. Liz and her colleagues will book weddings, birthdays, receptions, private concerts, and other special events within about an hour of Worcester, MA.

These classical ensembles will add an elegant and entertaining atmosphere to your event and will delight you and your guests.
